The Deseret Gymnasium was built in 1910 under the auspices of the Church to promote physical education. Bryant S. Hinckley served as executive secretary of the gym, 1910-1935. The original gymnasium was torn down in 1961 and replaced by a new structure in 1964. From the guide to the CR 121 4 Records 1900-1993 (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Church History Library) Corporation operated gyms in Ogden, Utah (sold, 1993) and Salt Lake City (closed, 1997). ...
